Who would better tell you the Fête Nationale in France than Wikipedia:
Bastille Day is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is called Fête Nationale (”National Celebration”), in official parlance, or more commonly quatorze juillet (”14 July”). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution
Here you will see 8 photos of the military parade on the Champs Elysées I found on “Le monde.fr”. Click here!
This year the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower was particulary beautiful with a pyrotechnic show on the theme “opera” with a tribute to La Callas and Pavarotti. Click here!
Here in Ollioules, I watched the fireworks from my house with Pierre because we have a nice point of view on the sea.
Happy Bastille Day ! Bon 14 juillet!

Reading the post of our Captain, Love Trips snips, when Mr Lifecruiser made his love declaration in Paris, I immediatly thought to the Lovers of Peynet who were always in my mind when I was a little girl.
I had a friend who had the chance to have many dolls of the Peynet’s Lovers. At this time I was dreaming to have a couple of these dolls. When I was by her I could admire them during long time.
Raymond Peynet
was a french illustrator, born in Paris in 1908 and ded in Mougins in 1999. He is famous because he created the two lovers. He drawed them on different supports like the post mark.
The lovers, the poet and his girlfriend were created by Peynet in 1942, in Valence when he saw a music kiosk called since this time the Peynet Kiosk.
The lovers have inspired the song “ Les amoureux des bancs publics” (The public banches’ lovers) of Georges Brassens.
You can find post marks, card and dolls…A nice boutique!
In France there are three museums for Peynet. One in Valence, one in Antibes and one in Brassac-Les-Mines. In Japan, there are two museums consecreted to him.
I wish you all une bonne Saint Valentin!

The last week at school before Christmas vacation is very important for pupils. There is an event each day:
Monday, the pupils song with three other classes for their parents and after we organized a little collation in classrooms.
Tuesday, we had to decorate the christmas tree of the town hall with things children created. The afternoon we went to cinema to see the cartoon of Disney Studio : Ratatouille, wich takes place in Paris. It was a great cartoon but I must say more for adults than for 4 years old children.
Tomorrow, we go to sing Christmas by the Firefights with the three other classes.
Friday, Christmas Father will come at school (our director, in fact) and will offer nice books to pupils.
I just finish now my homeworks! I had to put all the christmas songs in their classbook and a a little speak for the parents before vacation.
I received many boxes with chocolates! I adore chocolate!
Children are very exciting now and enjoy waiting the big moment!
And the teacher waits now the first moment of her vacation…
