Parisian domes come in a wide variety of shapes: hemispherical, ovoid, polygonal...
All materials, except tiles, are used and often combined: slates (rectangular or rounded and laid out in fish scale patterns) zinc, concrete, copper, lead and two even have gold (les Invalides and the Académie française).
Many of them are topped with lanterns or lightly carved zinc ridges.
